Extra-tall post bed, single needle, unison feed walking foot. The specialty configuration for boots, luggage, and 3-D upholstery assemblies that need vertical clearance a standard post bed can't provide.
Who runs this
Boot manufacturers — the shaft height alone needs more vertical clearance than a standard post bed gives. Luggage and travel-bag makers with structured bag bodies and tall side panels. Upholstery shops handling drum-shaped ottomans, large 3-D cushion forms, and anywhere the workpiece is taller than ~6 inches.
If a standard post bed (SW-810, SW-820) clears your work, save the money. The SW-82440 is the specialty pick for the work that doesn't fit on standard.
Why extra-tall post bed
- Vertical clearance for tall workpieces. Boot shafts, luggage panels, drum cushions — the post bed has to clear the workpiece without the operator fighting the height. This one does.
- Triple unison feed. Walking foot, needle feed, and bottom feed dog moving together. Same feed reliability as the SW-1510L family — except wrapped around a vertical column instead of a flat bed.
- For the work no flat bed can do. The boot shaft on a flat bed = operator disassembling and reassembling the boot. The boot shaft on this machine = operator rotates the boot around the column.
Application examples
Tall boot shaft
16-inch riding boot shaft with reinforced top edge. Extra-tall post clears the shaft height; unison feed handles the layer count including the welt.
Hard-side luggage
Structured travel bag with tall side panels and reinforced corner gussets. The post lets the operator approach the inside corner without disassembling the bag.
Drum ottoman
Tall cylindrical ottoman in performance velvet over high-density foam. The drum height needs the extra-tall post; unison feed handles the velvet pile compression around the column.
